Built for the Municipal Finance Professional
MuniSpot converts annual comprehensive financial reports from 17,600+ local governments into a structured, comparable dataset, accessible through a research dashboard and a REST API.

Our mission
Bringing Structure to Municipal Financial Data
Every year, thousands of U.S. municipalities publish audited financial statements containing critical information about fiscal health, debt obligations, and the management of public resources. Yet this data remains fragmented across jurisdictions, inconsistent in structure, and largely inaccessible to systematic analysis.
MuniSpot was built to resolve this. We extract, standardize, and score municipal financial data at scale, converting raw ACFRs into a structured dataset that supports credit analysis, issuer screening, peer benchmarking, and longitudinal trend analysis across 17,600+ entities.
Who uses MuniSpot?
MuniSpot serves credit analysts, portfolio managers, public finance researchers, institutional platforms, and development teams that require structured, comparable municipal financial data at scale.

Our team
Built by Municipal Finance Professionals
MuniSpot was created by professionals with direct experience in municipal credit analysis, spanning credit ratings, investment banking, and portfolio management at leading financial institutions.
We built MuniSpot because the analytical infrastructure the market required did not exist.
What we do
What MuniSpot Provides
We transform thousands of audited municipal financial reports into a structured, comparable, and scored dataset.
Standardized Financials
Financial statements are extracted directly from ACFRs and standardized against a consistent accounting framework informed by GASB taxonomy and GAAP principles. Every entity type is covered: cities, counties, school districts, special districts, and state governments.
MuniScore™ Financial Health Ratings
MuniScore™ evaluates each municipality across four weighted dimensions: economy, budgetary performance, reserves, and debt burden. The result is a single 1 to 99 composite rating derived from credit analysis fundamentals and designed for cross-jurisdictional comparison.
Multi-Year Trend Analysis
Fiscal health is a trajectory, not a point-in-time assessment. MuniSpot provides up to nine years of historical data per entity, enabling identification of structural trends, early deterioration signals, and recovery patterns over time.
Comprehensive Coverage
MuniSpot covers the full spectrum of U.S. municipal entities across all 50 states, from small townships to major metropolitan governments, encompassing cities, counties, school districts, special districts, and state governments.
